Travel Dream #2 - The Northern Lights

Hey there everyone!!

It's time for the second installment of my travel series!

Growing up, this place I would always see many photographs of.  While at school, my teachers would always mention is; we'd learn the history behind it, where it occurs and generally just spend time just being amazed by what our earth can create.

It's The Northern Lights in Alaska.  Beautiful, amazing, spectacular and every other positive verb can be used to describe this amazing sight.  It's for me one of those places where you would be left speechless.

Just looking at this photo I get lost for words.  It is something which I feel I would be so grateful to see in my lifetime.  It's truly magical!  Simple as that! :)

Also, you'll see if you click the link that will take you to my Travel and co. board on Pinterest.  If you want you can have a look there as I am always on there pinning away and will be pinning destinations which may or may not appear in a future post!  Also feel free to check out my other boards and say hey!

Quick note which has nothing to do with this post - weather is going bonkers here!  I get that it is winter and we're going to have rain and wind and everything you'd expect the weather to be like in winter but WOW this is just crazy!  The rain and wind has been intense for a couple of days now and really hoping it calms down soon!  Where I go to university is essentially in a massive shed (no joke, used to be a diesel train workshop) and you can barely hear yourself think, or other people talking when the rain and wind gathers force..  It's not the pleasant pitter patter of rain on a tin roof sound either.  Nope it's crazy loud!!

Thank you for reading, truly means so much :)

Until next time!! :)

Travel Dream #1 - Pooh Sticks

Hey there!

Travel - make a journey, typically of some length.

So this is my first installment of the travel series I wrote about here  !  I hope you all enjoy it, it's something different for me and I'm looking forward to it!!!

When I was little I would watch and read a lot of Winnie the Pooh and a game called Pooh Sticks was played from time to time.  Simple game.  You drop a stick on the upstream side of the bridge and whoever has the stick which appears first on the downstream side of the bridge is the winner!

Pooh Sticks (source)

It was only a couple of weeks ago that I found out there is a bridge in East Sussex in England where A. A. Milne and his son originally played Pooh Sticks.  When I found this out, as Winnie the Pooh was such a large part of my childhood, this is definitely a location I would like to visit for the personal reasons associated and the memories I got from this as a kid!

It's probably not the usual place people would want to go when traveling but I see travel as a very personal thing and you'd want to make the most of it!

The Pooh Sticks Bridge in Ashdown Forrest (source)

Even from just looking through images of Ashdown Forrest, where the bridge is found, the place looks so peaceful and many beautiful photographs would definitely be taken!

This will be a regular type of post for me for while now but I don't really have a time schedule when I'll post everything but do keep your eyes peeled for the next one!

Thanks for reading, until next time! :)

The Block: Glasshouse

Evening everyone! (or whichever time zone applies!!)

So the first episode of The Block Glasshouse has just aired!  I am excited!! :) :)

I've always loved watching The Block ever since it aired in Australia back in 2003!  Seeing one how it's evolved over the years and two seeing how the contestants are able to transform the spaces they are given.  I do feel this show is a leading factor why I am pursuing a career within interior design!

I do not envy the contestants this year..  The amount of work they'll have to do is enormous!  But I know the end result will be amazing!

I know people always say "never say never" but I highly doubt that I would ever put my name down to go on the show.  As much as I love the show, I don't think it's for me!  Perfectly happy to watch it from the comfort of my home!!

I know with university getting hectic (and we're only about to start week three!) I will probably only end up watching the room reveals but that is better than nothing!  Also the previews for the week coming now sound like it will be full of surprises, but what is The Block without a few surprises here and there?!

Thanks for reading, until next time!! :) x

The Dream of Travelling...

In some way shape or form everyone wants to travel.  Whether it is going to a country on the other side of the globe, visiting a different state from their home country or even something as simple as going to a place which is minutes away from home.

I am the person who would love to travel but my plans and dreams always catch up with me when I think about finances :(

So to compensate for not being able to physically travel around the world (insert very sad face), I thought I would type up a series of posts saying where I would like to go and why.  Maybe one day I'll actually be able to post traveling adventures on here!!!

So keep your eyes peeled for some posts about all the places I would love to travel to!

Until next time :)

A Warm Drink is The Best

Hi there!

It's Friday currently as I am typing (TGIF!!) and winter is absolutely here!

Yesterday I definitely felt it while making my way to uni with Alannah who I am so glad to call one of my closest friends! :) We met in first year of university, and even though we had all the same classes, we only first spoke during a drawing class later in the week and have been friends ever since!! :)

We treated ourselves to a warm beverage in town and honestly went to the first warm drink selling shop that we walked by which was open!  I had a hot chocolate, while Alannah had a cappuccino.  I had originally planned on having a juice while we were in town but it was WAY too cold to have one of those!!

Now on the subject of Alannah, she has recently started her very own blog which you can check out here at :) I am really looking forward to seeing what she posts!  Also can we appreciate the little segue I just did there? Whoop whoop!

So I hope everyone is all doing well! Also before you go and read another blog, what other blogs do you read/follow?  Many of the blogs I read are from people on YouTube and then bloggers who they then feature on their blogs.  I love reading blogs and find they are a great source for inspiration!

Thank you for reading, until next time :)

Everything was frozen!

I love all the seasons and don't really have a favourite.  Summer has the heat and sun, autumn provides such amazing colour in the landscape, winter means you can sit in front of the fire and wear cosy clothes and spring brings along new blossoming flowers.  (Also uni finishes in spring, so that's another positive!)

Here for your viewing I present a frozen window.

Also a frozen surface but the water droplet!  I found this awesome!! :)

 Nature providing the goods!

 Simple things are always beautiful...

And who doesn't want to take a photo of their face while feeling a little chilly??! ;)

We're currently in the middle (ish) of winter here in Australia and although where I live we don't get snow, WOW this morning was quite chilly, the ground was covered in a generous layer of frost and a nice tough layer of ice also made an appearance in a few places!  Usually, we can just wipe away the ice or dissolve it with some water but no not today.  Took quite some time to get rid of the ice this morning!

Warmth is now here luckily!  The sun is out, our wood heater is burning away quietly and I think now a cup of tea is in order!  :) :)

To whoever is reading this, I wonder what your favourite season is?  And thank you heaps for reading this!

I also feel like watching Frozen but I think that will have to wait until the end of the week.

But until next time! :)

Hello there!

It is Saturday!!! Yippeeeee! Day after Friday, first day of the weekend, day before Sunday! YAY!

Now that I am back for another semester at university, I do now recognise the week and then the weekend.  When I'm on holidays, I feel like those months are just a massive stretch of days and the everyday gets all muddled together!  I end up getting so confused as to what day it is so I am kind of glad I will be having a bit more structure in the week!

Today I have been slowly going through slides from a history lecture.  History has always been my favourite unit while I've been at university with experimental textiles coming a close second!

This semester, this unit is nothing like what we've been taught before!  Usually we delve into the styles and periods of architecture, the theories and notable people who have shaped everything design concerned to what it is today.... But this isn't what we're doing for a large chunk of this semester!! We're looking into law (yes law and I was terrified and excited when I saw this), also professional studies and then at the end of the semester we're looking into critical theories!!

But yes, today I have been looking through the slides again just so I can have a solid understanding of all the terms and what they all mean and how they all fit in with the scheme of things!

Usually whenever I am studying I have music playing.  Whether there are lyrics in the song or it is just instrumental, I always have music playing.  Today, I went to Spotify for some help to find some music which was targeted at concentration and came across this playlist.

Recommend this playlist to anyone!

Keep calm and focus.  This playlist has some great, atmospheric rock to help you relax and concentrate. (Description of the playlist in Spotify!)

I have been listening to this playlist for about seven hours now and do quite like it!  Before eating lunch and while I was going through lecture slides this was super helpful and I didn't find myself getting distracted at all.  However after I had lunch and went back to study, I was a tad tired and the combination of that and the calming music meant an impromptu nap was in order!

Feeling somewhat refreshed, I didn't go straight back to studying and opted to go somewhere other than my bedroom as I had been there majority of the day.  I ended up making myself a cup of tea (and may have accidentally on purpose dropped my biscuit in there......) and read some design magazines.

And can we also appreciate what you can see of my mug.  A Winnie the Pooh mug is the best choice of mug sometimes!

Now hours later, I am back in my room and working on drawing up a building on my laptop!  I'm not that confident with the program I am using but I know with practice and determination, asking for help, and not giving up I will (finally) master it!

If anyone reading this has any other ways which they find help them whenever studying feel free to comment!  Would be greatly appreciated and also interesting to see how everyone tackles the fun task that is studying! :)

Until next time :) :)

Positive Thoughts!

And hello again!

Growing up, I have always been told to turn everything into a positive and see the positives in everything.  Sometimes I find this hard but do try and other times, I'm just too annoyed to even bother which isn't the best attitude to have.

This semester, I'm going to try and look at university from a new perspective.  I'll be doing many things differently whether that may be how I work through on assessment tasks or how I face each day, this semester I am going to try and see the positives and look at the big picture of what I'll get out of this degree when I finish!

 Words to live by... (source)

I hope whoever is reading this is having an amazing time where ever you are!

Until next time! :)

Semseter 2

Right.  Semester 2 is officially happening.  This is where you insert cheering and people looking excited.     Aaaaaand it didn't happen.

All my time while being at university, I never find myself excited to go back and this semester is no different.  Nearly every time a semester finishes, I find myself wanting to quit or as I'll say strategically exiting, and either change degrees and do something different, defer, get a job or just do something which does not involve interior design and learning.

I love interior design, it's something that I will always love and have a passion for but right at this moment learning about it, and university as a whole is just not gelling with me.

You always hear people say that the years they were at university were the best years of their life.  I disagree.  First year at university was my favourite.  In semester 2 of first year, we did get a glimpse of how unpredictable it can be.  Unpredictable meaning how 'clients' will change their mind a week before an assignment is due.

The main aspect I have absolutely loved about university is the people I have met.  And I know you're meant to go back to university to want to learn (which I have), but there are people there who have been one of the main reasons why I did go back.  Two girls in particular who I absolutely love and am grateful to call them both close friends! :) :) :)

Either way, semester 2 has started.  Gosh, I sound so enthused haha!

Anyways, byeeeeeee :)

Watercolour Journal!

Hey there!

Over the years, I have bought quite a few (okay more than a few.....) notebooks and sketch books with cute covers which caught my eye and of course needed to be purchased.  Many of them just end up sitting in my room and a few get used for university, so it's about time that I started to use ones which get neglected.

Watercolour is something which has always interested me.  So what better way to make use of an empty journal than do some watercolours!  Now I know you're meant to do watercolour on specific paper, which I do have, but I wanted to be an artistic rebel.  The colours will come out differently, but I still think you can produce nice pieces from using ordinary paper.

Here is my little journal.  It's A6 and I probably was going to use it for university but knowing me, it got lost in my room along the way!  Also some basic watercolour pencils I picked up last year, a few brushes, a random pacer pencil I found, a pack of different thickness black pens, and then just a small sheet which I sometimes use to test out colour combinations before "creating my masterpiece" !!

Last year for my Interior Design Studio unit, I thought instead of doing interior perspectives on the computer, I would have a go at watercolour.  Long story short, the perspectives I did were no way good enough for my assessments, so I ended up sticking to computer rendering.  However, for a history unit I did this year, I did use watercolour for my perspectives and was SO happy with the results.

So when semester break rolled around I decided everyday I would do a watercolour of some sort.  They would be whatever I thought of in my head and really for my personal benefit; to improve my skills!  For a week or so, I haven't been able to do anything because I've been sick and I do not think it would be smart to try and do a watercolour in my bed!

I'm not in anyway an artist and am still doing quite basic stuff in this little book but have found it very enjoyable and relaxing!  I really want to start doing little scenes around were I live and also look into more abstract watercolour techniques.

(Oh look at the fancy iPhone Slow Shutter effects!)

Until next time!  :)

It All Started With A Sniffle

Hey there!

Isn't it just HILARIOUS how something as small as a sniffle can turn into a monstrous raging cold.  Don't you just LOVE when this happens?!  Note the sarcasm...

I think since last Thursday, I've probably been out of my bed for about twelve hours.  Normally, I would relish the opportunity to spend all day in bed.  I mean, it's warm, it's my bed, I'm in my room, I have a pretty view from my bedroom window...  But being stuck in bed with a throat which feels like it's being torn apart when you sneeze or cough, the constant runny nose, and also having my face feel like it's on the verge of exploding isn't how I fancy spending my day.

Thankfully, whatever I had caught, is slowly (emphasis on slowly) disappearing and hopefully I'll be able to enjoy what little time I have left on my break before semester two starts!

Until next time!! (Which will hopefully be quite soon) :) :)
