ANZAC Biscuits

Hiya :)

My family is having a quiet Sunday and mum and myself have decided to be nutters and do a little bit of cooking/baking.  Note this is a direct quote from mum (insert correct referencing and all that fun stuff.....) !!

For a little, well not so little when you see the size of them, nibbly we've been baking some ANZAC biscuits.  I love these and with the exception of double choc-chip cookies (I know I'm healthy) these are my favourite biscuits!  I loved them as a little girl and I still love them now!

We're using a recipe from a book which mum has had for ages and the recipe always turns out well (and delicious) for us so I thought I would share it with you all!

  • 130g of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of golden syrup
  • 1 cup of plain flour
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup of coconut (we used shredded)
  • 1 cup of sugar (you can use whatever sugar you have on hand)
  • 1 cup of rolled oats
  • 2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 tablespoons of boiling water
  • 6 drops of vanilla

  1. Preheat you oven to 180°C.
  2. Cover baking trays with baking paper (you can grease the trays, but as there is a lot of butter, baking paper will do the trick.
  3. Gently melt the butter and golden syrup but make sure it does not boil or burn!
  4. Sift the flour and salt into the butter and golden syrup once it's dissolved (do this away from heat).
  5. Add the sugar, coconut, rolled oats and vanilla.
  6. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda with the boiled water.
  7. Mix all these ingredients together well.
  8. Roll mixture into small balls and place on the lined baking tray, allowing some room for the biscuits to flatten and spread while they're cooking.
  9. Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes.
  10. Once cooked allow them to rest for a minute or so and then using a spatula (or whatever you find helpful) move the biscuits onto a cooling rack.
  11. Eat them!

Note that after you have backed the first batch, use this as a guide for the cooking times and temperature for the batches to follow.  For ours we ended up cooking for 12 minutes at 180°C but be mindful that ovens do vary and baking should be done to personal preference.  What we like may not be what you like and that is fine!!

Also a very important piece of information, is that it is a vital step to taste the uncooked mixture!  You know, you have to check that is tastes delicious and well balanced!

Hope you enjoyed this post!  Once again not a chef or baker of any kind!  Feel free to try them out and let me know what you think of them and how they turned out for you!!  Do you have a favourite recipe which you have loved since you were a kid?! Let me know in the comments!!

Until next time, bye from my mum and me and don't forget to keep smiling :) :) :) xx

Little Paper Lane

I am a massive lover of stationery.  Whenever Sprinkleofglitter uploads a stationery haul onto her channel  I am right there!  Whenever I go onto town and visit a shop, if there is any form of stationery it's like a magnet and once again I am right there.  And most times will leave having purchased as essential piece to add to my collection....  Seriously, you can never have enough items in the stationery department!

Jayde, who I wish to hug and thank her for this amazing place!!!

I can't remember where I discovered this place, it must have been instagram or twitter but boy am I glad I did!  It is the sweetest little shop I have ever seen and I've never set foot in there.  I have, however spent many hours doing a spot in internet window shopping!

Little Paper Lane can be found in Mona Vale, Sydney and along with the other places I'd love to visit when I travel to Sydney, Little Paper Lane is where, I bet you anything, I will spend all of my money!  It has the cutest pieces and the window displays are AMAZING!  The creativity is just awesome and I wish shops where I live would step up their game!!

You can find their website here, and feel free to be like me where I spend hours looking at everything and wishing that I bought stuff over the internet!!!

Until next time, keep smiling :) :) xx

Banana Weet-Bix Chop-Chip Muffins!!

Hey hey hey!!!

First thing's first, I'm the realest.  And Emma proceeds to sing Fancy.........

Sorry couldn't resist!  But just want to put it forward that I am not a chef or cook or baker of any form.  Today I saw we had some bananas and thought why not make some banana muffins?!  Last year, I had made some banana muffins by Stephanie Alexander for university and wanted to do something a little different so looked up recipes for banana and choc-chip muffins!

Also do realise that my last post I was saying how I'm trying to be healthy.  I'm not making these all for myself (fambalam, aka my family, will be eating them too) and also they aren't going to be eaten in one sitting.  Just wanted to put that out there!

Continuing on!  I found the recipe here if you want to go and check it out but I'll also be writing everything out here as well for you.  And on with the ingredients and recipe we go!

  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 4 Weet-Bix
  • 3/4 cup of milk (185ml)
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons of margarine (80g)
  • 1 1/2 cups of sifted self raising flour
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C.
  2. Grease a 12-hole muffin pan.  Mash the bananas in a bowl, crumble in the Weet-Bix and then stir in the milk.
  3. Set aside for 10 minutes.  Meanwhile, beat together eggs and margarine and add this to the banana mixture.  Combine the flour and sugar in a large bowl and add to the wet ingredients with the choc chips.
  4. Stir until just combined, then spoon into the muffin pans and bake for 25 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
We tried our muffins a few minutes after they came out of the oven and they tasted delicious!!!  I'd also like to note that we used 5 bananas in this recipe, just because our bananas were small ones.  Also, we used a little less chocolate than what was written but I doubt it would have made a massive difference.  We also sprinkled a tiny bit of raw sugar onto the top but that is totally optional!  And you could also use larger patty tins (I think that's what they're called) but I just picked out plain white one which I think were for cupcakes...

I'm not saying this because I made them and all that but they did taste delicious!  And my family also ate them and didn't complain or anything so thumbs up!!! One of the steps reminded me of my breakfast...  But I do love me some Weet-Bix, banana and milk!  I'm a Weet-Bix kid!!!

Well this was different for me to write about!  I hope you liked it and feel free to try them out and tell me how they turn out for you!  I'd love to know!

As always, thank you for reading!

Until next time, keep smiling :) :) :)

Peas In A Blog

Hey there!!!

IT IS FRIDAY!!! YAY!  It's been a long week at uni and I'm so glad the weekend is hours away!  Even though my weekend will be spent in my room, cleaning and working through assignments!  #FUN!

On my twitter and instagram bio (oh I'm sooooo sneaky) I've written that I'm still complaining about having to eat peas.  I know we're always told to eat our greens and to eat peas but I have never enjoyed eating them and will ALWAYS complain of the ratio between peas and corn when you get them in the frozen packet.  And frozen peas are just nuh I don't care not eating them without making various complaints about them.

BUT, mum and I after I'd finished uni a couple of days ago went to Youngs Veggie Shed and went sensibly overboard buying some good old fruit and veggies.  Amongst all the good stuff we picked up, fresh peas in a pod were purchased.  Now I know I said I don't like peas, but nothing compares to fresh peas in a pod.  Also how cute does peas in a pod sounds!!?

So today, instead of having toasted cheese or two minute noodles for lunch (yes, masterchef quality gal right here!!) I had peas.  Simple and boring peas.

However boring it may seem, it was delicious!  And if every pea I eat in the future could be like these I'd be a very happy girl!!!

I'm trying to be more healthy.  And I'd much rather know what I'm eating, and fresh fruit and vegetables is so much more appealing than eating heavily processed food!  And exercise would probably help but yer my relationship with exercise isn't the best!

But that's all for today, bit of a random post but I've got a few draft posts lined up so keep your eyes peeled for those!!

Until next time, keep smiling :) :) :)

ASOS Window Shopping

How are we all doing?!  While I'm having a weekend of relaxation (I am meant to be tidying my room and going on the exercise bike but lets just ignore that for a moment.......) I thought I would do a little bit of window shopping.  At home. On the couch.  In front of the fire.  In the most daggiest, however very comfortable clothes.

But I am doing some ASOS window shopping.  Just going to be honest, I've never purchased anything over the internet before.  I'd personally rather be able to try it on in and have a feel for the material and also support the shop.  However, I do like to have a peek at the online stores and see what they're got.  And I do wish they had a physical store which I could pop into!!  ASOS why you gotta have such cool stuff?!?!??!

Anyway to crack on with what I caught my eye...

These I know are not to everyone's taste but I remember having these as a kid and LOVED them!  I had a bright pink glittery pair and remember going into the cinema wearing them and when we left they'd died :( strap had broken and I was actually devastated!

To date, I don't think I've ever come across a person who doesn't like one of these!  The Cambridge Satchel Company to me is just AMAZING and the day that I purchase one of these beauties will be a day to remember!  I remember for my birthday this year, the bag I was using broke and was considering asking for one of these satchels but ended up not.. I think maybe a graduation present to myself whenever I graduate!!

And another bag... I love bags... And I see no problem with that!  Haha I'm the type of person who puts waaaaaay too much stuff in their bag.  Just ask Alannah, she reckons I keep bricks in them haha!  This looks like a great size, looks amazing and I wish it was mine!!

I am a lover of anything floral so when I saw this I fell in love.  I also saw a playsuit with the same print.  Double fell in love.  This was a bad idea looking on ASOS...

As a student of interior design anything with an architectural theme or print I am automatically attracted to!  Knowing me I'd wear this at home just with some tights on a lazy day but I love it!  It's simple and different!

Lastly something which has two of my loves:  florals and collars!  This summer which just went (so way back in December to Febuary) 90% of the tops I was wearing had a collar!  I just think anything with a collar looks cute and this blouse looks gorgeous!  I'd wear a black singlet top underneath but it's stunning!  I have maybe a similar type item from Sportsgirl which I am still wearing to this day even though it is a few years old!

So I very much regret doing this.  Fingers crossed I can find similar items to these near where I live or maybe I'll have to just take the plunge and do some internet shopping!

Hope you liked this post, something a little different but was fun!

Until next time, keep smiling :) :)

A Free Weekend!!!

Guess who's back.....  Back again.....
Emma's back.....  Tell a friend!!!

Hey there!!

So yep, two large assignments are done and submitted and presented and I'm having a few days to relax for a little bit all ready for when my classes start up again next week!  Staying with Alannah was so beneficial for us both as we could bounce our ideas around and I'm not best at archicad whereas Alannah is like PRO!

The amount of laughs we had while I was at her place.... Oh my goodness!  I haven't laughed that much in a LONG time!  From laughing so hard out in public that I go beyond the whole "laughing so much that you start clapping like a seal" oh I went WAAAAAY past that!  I do feel sorry (and embarrassed) for the guy who was painting and saw the whole entire scene...  Well awkward moment for Emma.

I also acted like an adult and went on the swing when we went to the park... And got my hand/wrist caught in the rope/handle as I was jumping off.  I have all the skill!

Can we appreciate that my legs are that tan they they disappear in this photo... Credit to Alannah for the photo!

Probably one of the funniest things was when we were submitting our law assignment.  Due at 11:30pm we had everything finished with half an hour to spare.. However when we went to upload our assignments, technology was not on our side. Couldn't find the file, file would disappear, find the right file, go to upload the file, submit button disappears.  THE MOST STRESSFUL TIME!

Long story short, everything got submitted on time and we celebrated by going to the supermarket and buying magnums and then watching Dance Moms.  Am now kind of obsessed with Dance Moms now..

It's going to absolutely suck when you leave the wonderful state of Tasland Alannah :(  love you lots and lots :) xxx

Until next time, keep smiling :) :)

Mocha IceStorm = YUM!

Afternoon everyone!! (or whatever part of the day applies to you) :D

Today I had a quick trip into town to meet my friend Alannah and spend some time in the library to have a look at some law books for our history assignment.  Hashtag thrilling.

Me being the healthy (LOL) and nervous person I am, sped walked into town as I didn't want to be late.  Seven minutes later and with burning legs, I arrived at Hudsons, where Alannah and I decided to meet and we went inside to have a quick drink and bite to eat before we went to the library.

I absolutely adore mochas but it was way too hot to have a hot drink so I got a Mocha IceStorm.  I'd never had one before and oh my goodness is was amazing!  Essentially it's just frappe styled drink with mocha flavour, low fat milk and then finely crushed ice.  Probably not something you'd have everyday but boy o boy it was so good!

I got a small because I knew I wouldn't be able to finish anything larger.  Alannah got a pumpkin frittata of some description and then an iced latte.  Her frittata looks so delicious and I'm regretting not buying anything to eat!

Anyway that's all for today!  Was about to say that's all folks haha!

Hope you are all doing well!  Until next time, keep smiling!! :) :) :)

Quick Snippet ft. Teen Choice Awards!!

Hey there!

This is just going to be a super quick post to ultimately say I am still here!  University is hectic at the moment; I have two assignments due this week so all of my focus has been there.  I'm honesty so proud of one of the assignments I finished today!!  Have a verbal presentation tomorrow on it and although that scares me a lot, I'm so chuffed with how everything turned out!  Interior design is such a hard and annoying area of study to go into because there is no right answer... SO STRESSFUL!  But I do love it, sometimes.....

Also while completing that assignment, Alannah and I had the tv playing in the background and on the weekend the Teen Choice Awards 2014 was broadcasted in Australia.  I think I found it more interesting than Alannah hahahaha but I do quite like award shows!

As a girl who spends a great portion of her time on the internet, I loved seeing people from the wonderful world of the internet getting up on stage and collecting awards!  I've heard that not everyone was happy with who won certain categories, but seriously?  Be happy that #TeamInternet is making their mark at these awards!!!!!  And I know it's cheesy but you're already a winner for being nominated, and at the end of the day and award is just an award.  You don't need awards to do amazing things!!

BUT!  I have to go and prepare my self for my presentation tomorrow!! Wish me luck!!!

Until next time, (and hopefully within the next few days), keep smiling!! :) :) :)

Travel Dream #4 - Sydney

Hiya :)

Welcome back to another little travel dream of mine!  I had been planning on having one of these posts up sooner but university and life in general have gotten in the way!

Today with the magic of the internet we are traveling via blog to (drum roll please.....) Sydney!  I've never been to Sydney :( could have gone last year for music but was taking a year off!  Worst timing to take a break!!!

The fireworks held here at New Years Eve are just spectacular!

Bit of an odd one seeing as I'm not a fan of thunder but the fork lightning in Sydney!!

Sydney just has so many world renowned landmarks and ever since the Summer Olympics in 2000 were held in Sydney I always get jealous whenever I see photos of the city!

Until next time, keep smiling!! :)

Thirty Three Cups

Yesterday, I had some music championships in Ulverstone (was quite thrilling) and once we had played and packed up our instruments, we had over an hour to spend before our bus was scheduled to leave.  Myself and three of the girls were STARVING!  I hadn't eaten since I had breakfast which was around 5.30am so food was definitely in order!

None of us had ever been to Ulverstone I don't think (I know I hadn't) so I didn't have a clue where to get food.  I knew there was a McDonalds in walking distance, from what we had been told, but I am trying to not eat any and also none of the other girls were willing to eat it haha!  However, and luckily Laura (one of the girls) had had some coffee at a little cafe earlier and suggested we go there if we couldn't find anywhere else.

That little cafe was Thirty Three Cups and I am so glad I got to sit down and have a warm drink and lunch here!

We sat outside and although it was a nippy day, we were near a patio heater which provided us with warmth!  We were also lucky, as the place was quite busy and just got a table for four!

Me being the mature young lady that I am ordered a hot chocolate and my goodness I have a new favourite cafe which sells hot chocolates!  I'm really picky when it comes to warm drinks and this was a 10/10 hot chocolate!

Also the spoons we were given were all different which I thought was cute!  I loved mine!

Food wise I ordered the warm ham hock salad with pulled oiled bread, fennel and baby cornichons (spell check is saying I should write unicorn here.....), served with a Tasmanian mustard emulsion.  While we waited and sipped on our warm drinks it was nice to catch up with everyone and be away from the noise of the championships.  I also hadn't seen Laura in quite a long time so I loved being able to spend time with her before she had to leave again!

I didn't know what to expect when our food arrived.  I always in my head try to imagine what the dish would look like and long story short I was way off with my imagination haha not very imaginative when it comes to food!

Tasted absolutely delicious!  And being perfectly honest I had never head of what ham hock was before but so glad I ordered what I did!  Good food, good drink and good company are always a winner :)  I would gladly go back here and definitely try the desserts they had on offer!  We were so tempted to stay for longer and try them but we were full and didn't want to be late for the bus!!

Until next time, keep smiling :) :)

Little Confession

Just going to get right into this.

I have a confession to make.

I never really used vending machines before I got to university.  I get quite nervous over little things, and with vending machines I would always think something would go wrong and people would see and it would be awkward so my solution was to never use them!  Also on the rare occasion I would use one and press the code for the item I'd like, a lot of the time I wouldn't get what I payed for and would always find myself looking at onion flavoured chips instead of salt and vinegar chips.

But since going to university I 'raid the vending machine'...  I don't buy everything, it's just something I would say whenever I went to buy something and would come back with a soft drink and maybe a packet of chips.  Seems harmless, spending a little over $5 on food and drink but over time the dollars add up!  Also, the temptation of having a takeaway store within a short walk also doesn't help in the money department!  Hot chips, calamari rings, fish sticks, and then the cold drinks section!  It's convenience food really and over time like with the vending machine the money would add up.

So when I started this semester, I said to myself that I wouldn't buy anything from the vending machine or takeaway store unless it was a bottle of water or a salad sandwich.  And even then, why buy a bottle of water when I have an extensive collection of drink bottles I have at home!?  Same goes for the sandwich as well!!

This is where I have my little confession.  For the first three weeks of university I didn't buy anything from the vending machine and haven't stepped into the takeaway shop (insert cheering!!!).  However, since using vending machines I was rediscovered my love for M&M's.  And I may or may not have bought a packet of M&M's on a few occasions.

I know it's not a massive thing but for me, I was going so well and M&M's WHY DO YOU HAVE TO TASTE SO GOOD!?!?!?!!  M&M's are the food of my people... Long story hahaha :)

Such concentration...

Today I had planned on having the ground floor done but that didn't happen :(  I hate and also find it funny , hilarious even, how something so simple as placing spaces on a plan can be so difficult!  I have two rooms left to place (a library and lecture theatre) but it just feels like I'm plonking them there with no reason behind it and I will NOT hand that in!  Hopefully (fingers crossed) it will be all sorted tomorrow and I can transfer it all onto ArchiCAD ready to show my tutor next week!

Master planning is SO much fun!  But that was a fun bit of my day for you!!

Until next time, keep smiling! :) :)

Looks can be deceiving...

It has been a LONG day.

Hey there!!

I don't know about anyone else, but right at the moment I really do not like my body clock.  Waking up at 4am and then 6am every morning isn't for me.  And then when my alarm goes off I feel so tired and become the pleasant morning person that I am!  Thinking about it right now as I type, if I continue to wake up at 6am I may start to do a little bit of exercise in the morning and then just go about my morning routine.  And I never willingly do exercise so this will be fun to see how this all pans out!

Had a morning class at university today and it just felt like it went on forever!  I had only eaten a banana for breakfast and didn't buy any food or drink while I was at university so when I got to home I was so glad to have some food!

Currently in my studio class we're doing an adaptive reuse of the building where my university is housed.  Our first assignment is just master planning the space and I hit a road block with the layout of my ground floor!  Insert really annoyed face here!

I also see here that I've slept indoor with one 'o'... Let's just ignore that shall we...?

I just need to do a little moving around with the spaces on the ground floor and then it's all go go go from there!  YAY!

But anyway! Time for the part of the blog which has something to do with the title (finally haha!) !! Had the most amazing tea but it was one of those times where it didn't look that delicious, but when you ate it, appearances don't mean a thing!  We had sausages, used what was in that pan to make gravy (#YUM)  and then a heap of vegetables!  Sweet potato, carrot, onion, mushroom, asparagus, broccoli and I know I'm missing something but can't remember what it was!!  Either way it was delicious!!! :)

Hope wherever you are life is sweet!  I've got a busy day ahead of me tomorrow, and now that I think about it I'm busy leading up to Sunday where I am definitely going to have a sleep in!

Until next time, keep smiling!! :) :)

Travel Dream #3 - Great Barrier Reef

And we are back again for another travel dream and this time it is more close to home!  Also the weather is miserable here so I've opted for a more warmer location!

Presenting.......  The Great Barrier!

It's an absolutely stunning part of our earth and pretty close to me compared to my two other dream travel destinations!  The Great Barrier Reef is one of the seven wonders of the natural world and at times I wonder how something as beautiful as this is right on our doorstep!  From above (as you can see in the images) it looks stunning and when you go under water it's even more beautiful!

I've always loved swimming so I would love to be able to snorkel here one day!  Or just get a kayak and spend some time paddling around the place!  Also I hear that Nemo also lives here so who wouldn't want to find him and say hello!!

I feel this post is really short but I'm writing this as a small break from the work I've got to do for university and can't take too much time away from all the fun stuff that university brings!!

Until next time, keep smiling!! :) :)

Oh hey there August!

Hey everyone!

2014 is just going by so quickly!!  First semester flew by and now I've just finished my third week back this semester and that has gone by so quickly!  This semester has been pretty good so far and looking into law for my history class has actually been quite enjoyable!  There is a massive amount of reading behind it and I am become the best of friends with the glossaries we've been given.  Yep we have more than one glossary, because two glossaries are better than one!

I'm looking forward to August!  I have some fun things to look forward to in my life (with the exception of assignments being due) and also have some new posts I'm excited to be sharing with you!  I'll be (hopefully, fingers crossed) doing some posts about interior design and little design things in general, dabbling with some beauty business (please don't get too excited about this, still not sure about it!) and also will be continuing with the travel posts I recently started so watch this space!

Anyway, until next time :) :)
