Hard Work = Chuffed Feeling

Hiya everyone!

Last night as I was trying to fall asleep, well maybe I should say this morning seeing as I went to bed near 1am but moving on, I couldn't help but have a positive thought about how I'm progressing with my studio assignment.  And to be honest I am damn chuffed.

The assignment isn't finished, I still have some drawings to complete, a model to finish and the produce a document ready to print.  I have a few days to prepare a speech for the presentation but I also have to finish my final history assignment in that time so woo yeah going to be fun!  I already have notes on my design, so all that needs to happen is me organise them and hope I have enough stuff to talk about for 5 minutes!!

I have pushed myself so hard this semester and I am really very proud of myself.  I've learnt ArchiCAD and Photoshop with the help of Alannah, YouTube videos and many late nights and I'm no where near a professional but I am so proud of myself.

I've worked hard and I feel chuffed!  Although, I will be sleeping in on Friday hahah sooooo tired!

Until next time, keep smiling!! :) Toodle pip!! xx

Stop and Breathe

So... Stop and Breathe....

So there are two reasons why I am writing this.  One, my mum is telling me to have a break from my assignments and two I do need to stop and breathe.

Let me fill you in a little!  I'm currently working my way through assignments and the due date is drawing closer and closer and as much as I'm trying not to show it on the outside, on the inside I am freaking out.  I don't want to mess up again, so I am pushing myself so much with an assignment and about five minutes ago, things started going wrong.

I have a love hate relationship with Archicad and currently we're hating each other.  I don't want to bore you with details but long story short I need my walls in plan view to be filled in black.  Seems simple enough.  So in the 'project map' as it's called in Archicad, all my walls are filled in black, however when I go to my 'layout view' guess what isn't filled in black?  Yep my walls.  I saw this was going to be a problem with Photoshop and had been trying to find a solution.  Asked Alannah, asked Google and YouTube but nothing worked.

So what did I do?  Got angry and very on the verge of tears.

So here I am taking my break and writing this to get rid of some tension I am currently feeling towards good old Archicad.  Good news, I have found a way around the problem of the walls not wanting to fill in.  Actually use a black fill and trace over all the walls I want to be filled.  It's going to be time consuming but with some good tunes (Harry Potter Soundtrack) and a clear mind I know I can get it done and I'll be back on track!

It's important to take a breather, very important.  You don't want to do something you'll regret (very nearly felt like throwing my laptop).  Get up, have a drink (of your choice...), have something to eat, walk around, do something that isn't what you're meant to be doing for a few moments.  Let go and just breathe and have a break!

I might have a little Pinterest session before I go back to Archicad.  I don't want to hate my assignments.  If that happens then it's just a downwards spiral and the quality of work I produce is not good.

Until next time, keep smiling! :) and breathe!! xxx

Polyvore Living Room

Hey there :)

Of all the websites which I love, Polyvore has to be up there with my absolute favourites!  I remember a few years I was just searching the internet for outfit ideas on Pinterest, Polyvore kept popping up so I went over and saw what the fuss was all about.  And about a year ago I decided to make myself an account and I haven't looked back since!

I've always had written in the little profile bit that I was an interior design student but I had never plucked up the courage to post a home set.  And it wasn't until I received a message that I thought, why not!?  I usually try to create sets of what I'd like to wear or in this case a room which I would like to live in and I love it just not the price tag!!!

I have a weakness for timber so no surprises that the coffee table here was selected!  If anyone is on Polyvore come and say hey!  You can find me here if you ever get bored haha!

What is your ideal living room?  Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, keep smiling :)

Late Hello To October

Hiya :)

I know we are already way into October but it's fashionable to be late to the party right?

HELLO OCTOBER!! No not the beautiful blog called Hello October, although I absolutely love reading her blogs and watching her videos.  Suzie is just gorgeous and gah I have massive hair and everything envy!!

But back to the month that is October!  It's crunch time at uni with only around two weeks left and the semester is finished with 2014!  SCARY!  I have two assignments to finish and annoyingly on the day which I have to present a studio assignment worth 65% (I am calm.) I also have to submit an assignment for my architectural history unit.  Going to be a great day that one will be.

Even though I am kind of terrified to present I'm also excited as I'm so happy with my design and how it's progressing!  All that needs to be done is tweak two final things on my floor plan and then basically render a whole heap of drawings!  I'm doing all my perspectives in watercolour and was a little nervous to show my tutor one I had done two nights ago but she loved it!  Was quite funny as it was on normal printer paper not actual watercolour paper but I won't complain!  All I'll be doing with the section is take shots from my archicad file an print that onto A3 normal paper, trace that onto some yellow trace then gently trace that onto some watercolour paper and go from there!

And then I have to make a model as well, and draw some details, and a few other things.......  Oooof so much to do so little time!  Social life will be basically nothing over the next week or so!

But on the bright side when I finish this semester, I'll have a just under a month to relax before results are released and then another few months before I have to go back to uni again!  And also Christmas is fast approaching!  Christmas decorations are slowly creeping into stores and it's only October!! CRAZY!!

Until next time, keep smiling :)

Hog's Breath Cafe Birthday Dinner

Hi there :)

A little while ago it was my best friends birthday!  I won't say how old Alannah turned (love youuuu if you're reading this Alannah xx) but to celebrate we went out to dinner at Hog's Breath Cafe with some friends!  The Hog's Breath Cafe in Launceston is relatively new, I think it's been there for about a year, I could be completely wrong but I have wanted to eat here for so long so I was quite excited!

Hog's Breath is apparently quite good at doing great steaks... So I got a Chicken Caesar Salad.  And you can't eat there without getting the Hog Tail Fries and because I just wanted something simple I got the ones with tomato and barbeque sauce!  I was going to order a steak but honestly I felt like saving money haha and felt more comfortable eating a salad!  And the salad had bacon too so how could I say no??

Just going to out it out there, I couldn't finish everything.  But wow did it taste good!  Definitely one of my favourite salads I've eaten!  And those curly fries?!?!? Oh em gee.

We also had some desert.  I have never felt so torn about eating desert before.  It was so rich, but there was no way that I would have been able to finish it!  I thought the guy who brought it out to us was being cheeky when he said good luck, now I see what he said it!

This was actually Alannah's desert, I didn't take a photo of mine but woah feeling slightly sick looking at it.  It definitely needed more strawberries and waaaaaay less chocolate!  I love chocolate but didn't want to be near chocolate after eating this.  Needless to say, I didn't finish it.

These two ladies, Alannah in the middle and Nicole on the left, are two of my favourite people and uni would have been very boring without them!  And also we didn't mean to front up wearing the same sort of clothing haha but it makes a cracking photo.

Even though I've already said this Alannah, I hope you had an awesome birthday I love you lots and lots and we need to go back to Hog's Breath again haha but not buy any desert!

Until next time, keep smiling :) :)

The Love of Doors

Hey there!

I'm currently scrolling through Pinterest looking for ideas of what to do for my kitchen wall in my studio project for university!  FUN STUFF!  And looking through the Architecture section on Pinterest (my favourite) the amount of doors which popped up was crazy but I am not complaining!

Here are just some of the amazing doors which I came across!  Enjoy! :)

All of these images and other Architecture related images which I find inspiring can be found here on my Pinterest board!  Feel free to check it out!

Aaaaaand I've got to get back to designing this kitchen!  Only have to make a cubby house type interior for my private dining and look at reworking the kitchen so it has more of a connection with the private dining area!  Good fun day :)

Until next time, keep on smiling :) :) :)

Hiya :)

So Zoella, also known as Zoe Sugg.  I have to say of all the people I look up to, she is right up there and I am so so so so so grateful of the day I found her YouTube and blog those few years back!  Watching her videos and reading her posts is something I look forward to doing each week and to be honest, there would be a sizable hole if she wasn't there.

I don't really know how to word this.  I've never met Zoe, and will most likely will never meet her but I am so proud of her.  From watching her very first videos and seeing how far she has come is just amazing!  I'm wanting to say she's blossomed but haha she is an amazing person in this world!  She's got a successful YouTube channel and blog, Zoella Beauty has been launched and she's got a book on the way!  I really wish I could just give her a hug or high five and say thanks and congratulations!

Within the past week, she uploaded a video titled 'Your Skin Doesn't Define You' and I thought it was beautiful.  She wasn't wearing any makeup and spoke of how she felt confident and didn't feel the need to wear makeup all the time.  And then suggested we all post selfies of us with no makeup with the hashtag #barefacedandwhat to twitter and instagram.

Today I thought why not?  And posted this :) facially naked and proud :)

I've never been the type of person who wears a lot of makeup.  I opt for the 'facially naked' look whenever I wear makeup hahaha!  My usual makeup when I leave the house to go to uni or into town consists of BB cream, a setting powder, mascara and maybe some lip balm if I feel like it and when I'm at home I wear no makeup at all.
I think it's important to feel comfortable in your own skin and I know this is easier said than done.  I'm slowly but surely becoming confident within my own skin and it feels SO GOOD!

Thanks for reading!!

Until next time, keep smiling :) :) :)

'I Made It'

Hiya :)

Facebook produces some very interesting content when scrolling through your news feed... There are cute things, weird things, creepy disgusting things which honestly make you wonder why people would watch that sort of thing (I am cringing as I type this, ugh yucky)!

But then you'll scroll and see a photo or post and stop and go "wow" and then ponder for a while about that photo and then like the photo and continue scrolling.  And then if you're me your mind will be still thinking about that photo but you've scrolled for so long that the Facebook app crashes (always happens) and all you really want to see is that one photo that caught your attention but you can't find it until you decide it would be a smart idea to look through your activity log to find the photo instead of scrolling....

Presenting the said photo:

I don't know if this is just me, but I've never really been able to picture my future clearly.  In school we'd have to sit there and say what we wanted to be doing in a years time, five years time, ten years time, you get the picture!  My future always just seems fuzzy.  It's not that I don't think I have a future, just that I'm very unsure if that makes sense...

But when I saw this photo a part of me clicked and I was like "oh!" and had the bright idea (hehehe) to write a blog post about it!

1.  Get my drivers license.  Driving isn't my strong point.  I can drive (honest), it's just a massive confidence issue for me!  So that day I have my license and can drive myself places will be a good day!

2.  Graduate university.  My time at university hasn't been sunshine and daisies and happy times!  For the most part I haven't enjoyed it and disagree when people say those years at university will be the best years of your life.  I can't wait to have my degree and honestly not have to spend time in that building!  As much as I think the building is awesome in it's design, the memories kind of ruin it for me.

3.  Have a place to call my own.  I love living with my family but I having friends who have a place of their own and get to decorate it to their taste really makes me jealous!  I love interior design (obviously haha) and can't wait for the day when I get to make a place my own :) ho

4.  Get a job.  I know that I've entered into a job field that is going to be tough to secure a job and I've accepted that I'm going to have to move away from home to get a job...  Insert face which is both sad and happy!  It'll be a new adventure to look forward too!

5.  Have a family.  It's a simple one and I honestly don't know what to write here.  Basically the photo above.

These are just some of the things that will make me think 'I've made it' :D

Hope you enjoyed this post!  What are the moments in your life where you think you will say 'I made it' I'd love to know!!

Until next time, keep smiling!! :) :)
