Day 365...

It's here.  It is finally here.  The last day of 2014.

Day 365 out of 365.

My Year in Music

I use Spotify pretty much everyday.  I love music and Spotify has a lot of music!  And Spotify has been able to tell all of it's users what their 2014 sounded like and I checked mine out today!

This is my "So what kind of music are you into?" and I have clearly been listening to quite a bit of pop this year......

I had a good chuckle seeing this next one.  I have fallen in love with McFly during 2014 and wasn't really surprised to see them as my top played artist and album!  My top artists are McFly, 5 Seconds Of Summer, Harry Potter Soundtrack, Ed Sheeran and Jónsi, while my top albums were Memory Lane (The Best of McFly), x (Deluxe Edition), The Fault In Our Stars:  Music From The Motion Picture and Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

My top 10 track... And no surprises again that McFly are there four times..... I am not obsessed I promise!  I also didn't realise how much I listened to that Ariana Grande song...

And finally what artists I listened to most during the seasons.  I think the seasons are not as they actually are in Australia so it would actually be in Summer I listened to Jónsi, Autumn was 5 Seconds Of Summer, Winter I listened to Ed Sheeran and in Spring I listened to McFly.

Now I usually just listen to the top lists in Australia, but yesterday I listened to My Heart Will Go On about ten times in a row... Was meant to be a serious singalong but yeah that didn't happen!

I know not everyone uses Spotify, but if you do have you checked out what your year in music was like?  What's been your favourite music discovery this year?  I personally really loved TRXYE by Troye Sivan!  Let me know!! :)

I hope you all wherever you are have a safe and happy New Year!

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :)

Quick & Easy Breakfast Smoothie!

I am not exactly the brightest morning person our there and breakfast is never a fancy meal for me, usually consists of cereal or vegemite on toast!  However while I've been on holidays, and haven't had to be rushing around in the morning I've recently started making a smoothie for my breakfast and its simple but delicious!

Blogmas Day 23: Little Christmas Decorations

One of this things I dislike the most about studying interior is when people find out and when it gets to Christmas time, this sentence always pops up in conversation "oh your house must look beautiful inside with all the decorations!"  ahahahahahah yeah no.  While my family does celebrate Christmas, we don't really bring out a lot of decorations.  Yes there would be a Christmas tree, wreath, stockings and a few items on the mantel piece and around the room, but I don't know what people except I've done inside the house?!  There isn't any snow, or Santa sitting with is reindeer, we don't have mistletoe strategically placed, our home just really looks the same, just with a few Christmas additions!

This year however as we've all been sick and the dust wouldn't help, Christmas decorating hasn't been at the top of the list of priorities.  I have set up a little tree which will be put on the wood box in the sitting room and have also done some small things in my room and thought I would share them with you!  Enjoy! :)

Blogmas Day Opps......!

Soooooooooo, hello!

Long time no blog!  I'm really sorry for not posting on here, but life got in the way :( my best friend Alannah has moved away so I wanted to spend time with her and then I got some sort of unfriendly lung infection.  Talk about great fun times!  So for over a week I've been coughing and not sleeping and generally not feeling well and decided it's better to get better again before I sit down and write a post!  I also couldn't really look at my computer or laptop screen without getting a headache so I had to take a break from blogging :(

I will be starting up with posts again, although I'm not sure whether I'll label them as Blogmas ones, but keep your eyes peeled for some new posts?

Also... 4 SLEEPS TO CHRISTMAS!! Crazy how fast December has gone!  Just think 2015 is basically here, oh man don't want to think about that!

Speaking of Christmas, here is a little Christmas Home Set which I made on Polyvore earlier today!  I haven't been able to decorate the house much as everyone has been sick and (the dust won't help anyone) why not make a simple little festive set?!

Once again really sorry about not being able to post, just needed to put health first!

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 11: Favourite Christmas Songs

Everyone has their favourite Christmas song.  I personally love them but do feel for people working retail or any job type this time of year and the good old songs are being pumped through the speakers constantly!  And I thought I would share with you some of my absolute favourite songs for the Christmas season!

1.  Michael Bublé - All I Want For Christmas Is You

2.  Michael Bublé - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

3.  Keith Harkin - Last Christmas

4.  Damian McGinty - Winter Wonderland

5.  Damian McGinty - Our First Christmas Together

6.  Band Aid 30 - Do They Know It’s Christmas? (2014)

These are just some of my favourites!  What are yours?  Let me know!  Also, I have found the little tree I've been looking for!!!  There will be a post on how I've decorated bits of the within the week or so depending on how a few things go!!

Hope December is treating you all well :) xx

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

Blogmas Day 10: Turn Down for 2014

Hey hey hey!

Today I watched the YouTube Rewind video for 2014.  While watching it, it struck me that there are only 21 days left of 2014.  21 days.  This makes me a little nervous.  While 2014 (I keep going to write 2013 for some reason) has had many downs the positive moments do 100% come out on top!

One thing that hasn't improved in 2014 are my skills on the internet... So don't have a clue if I've done that right so I'll chuck a link to the video HERE for all to take a look at if you haven't seen it already!

I personally love YouTube.  It's given countless voices a platform to create content on whatever tickles their fancy :) and also provides me with a spectacular way to procrastinate...

Also seeing as the festive season is upon us, I also thought I should begin the (late) process of making my room a but festive.  I annoyingly couldn't find the little tree I wanted to set up in my room, desperately need to find it tomorrow!  I did however, find these lights I've had for a while and put them on my bedhead :)

Is my room Tumblr yet?? haha

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 9: Sims 3, Gloomy Day, and Hot Chocolate

Hey there :)

I slept in today...  Partly because I was semi still in my dream, which wasn't exactly pleasant (who wants to be chased by a huntsman?  NOT ME!) and also I was just so tired!

And so I slept in today, ate quite badly and celebrated a Gift Giving Party on the Sims 3... HELLO EXTREMELY PRODUCTIVE DAY!  The fireplace I've got in a room in the game decided it would catch fire and destroy a bookshelf.  Twice.  In under a minute.  I'm just sitting there thinking "OKAY FIREPLACE I SEE YOU, NO NEED TO DESTROY THE PLACE I ONLY HAVE LIMITED SIMOLEONS!"  The dog I have, a puggle I think (is that even a dog breed?  Oh apparently it is, cross between a pug and a beagle) constantly thinks it's a great idea to guard it's food bowl.  No matter how much scolding, no Jess the puggle will guard the damn food.  And also chase the poor mailman and newspaper kids.  And it's winter, so a bit chilly and she thinks it's a fab idea to go for a swim.  NO DON'T GO SWIMMING!  WAIT TIL IT'S WARMER!  Then she shakes herself dry in such a spot where you have to move the furniture to be able to mop up the puddle.

Today has been quite gloomy though :( grey clouds don't do much to boost the mood although the rain did bring back good memories of running around the house when there was a thunderstorm... And i don't like storms but it was a very couple of minutes!

And now it's after 10pm (I haven't been on Sims all day btw).  I've had a yummy hot chocolate and I have been chucking for a little while over a photo!  The simple memory from this summer at the start of this year, I'll miss you crap loads when you leave Alannah :( :(

I don't know now whether to go to sleep or browse the interwebs.. I'm currently listening to Taylor Swift on YouTube.. Haven't really been a massive fan of hers but I'm undecided whether to get her newest album or not... What do you think?  Should I get the album?  Please help!!!

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 8: Persistant Headaches

Hiya! :)

So you know when you wake up and get out of bed and know that you are going to achieve so much?  You've got your plan sorted.  You'll do your business, have something to eat for breakfast, continue the routine you normally follow daily and then carry on with the rest of your day and do everything that you wanted to do.  Don't you love days where everything goes to plan?  I wish my day was like that haha
This describes me perfectly.

I woke up, probably the earliest I've woken this holidays (8am.......) and I swear I looked like a vampire being shown garlic or light when I was trying to make breakfast...  Not a pretty sight haha and not long after I developed a headache which didn't understand the concept of personal space.  I didn't want to be anywhere near the headache but it's a persistent little bugger and is still there nagging or doing whatever a headache wants to do.

I've spent the day in my onsie which has the Australian flag on it, drank tea in a vegemite cup and scrolled my way through Tumblr while curled in a little ball and indulged in vegemite on toast... HASHTAG THE MOST PRODUCTIVE DAY EVER!

I wanted to put a few Christmas decorations around the house today but I the boxes would have just sat in the way and that would have caused problems!  Tomorrow I plan on having a little Christmas Tree up in my room :)  from the first Christmas I can ever remember, this little tree has been part of it and I have kind of grown attached to it.  The decorations remind me of my childhood, and now I am snorting with laughter as I remember how I nearly knocked the big tree over when I was trying to help decorate the tree.....

But I need to go and take of a face mask I currently have on at the moment!  Body Shop's Blue Corn 3-in-1 Deep Cleansing Scrub Mask :)  have only used it a few times but so far LOVING IT!!

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 7: Chistmas Tag

I think it's clear that Christmas is fast approaching.  So why not do a Christmas Tag?!

1. What is your favourite Christmas Movie/s?
I absolutely love Elf and The Holiday!  Elf was on the other week and I cannot express how excited I was!  It's one of those movies that just put you in a good mood!  Also I'm not sure whether this an actual Christmas movie, but I do remember this being shown at Christmas time, but The Magic Pudding!  It's based off a story by Norman Lindsay and if you can watch it, I really recommend it!
2. Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?
My family opens our presents on Christmas morning :)

3. Do you have a favourite Christmas memory?
This is going to sound really odd but I don't have a favourite memory, they've all been my favourite as I've got to spend it with my family.  I do fondly (lol that word) remember when I was little and I'd gotten a Banana in Pyjamas VCR (talk about old school) and I was very excited about this.
4. Favourite festive food?
Also going to sound odd to some but my family doesn't put on a massive feast, we usually just make our favourite dish and that changes every year.. But I did love to prepare chocolate dipped strawberries with my nan :)

5. Favourite Christmas gift?
I honestly have no clue for this one.  I know I had always asked for a pet (something other than a goldfish) and was given a rose for Christmas.  It was beautiful as they go and was a good learning experience haha if you get what I mean!
6. Favourite Christmas song?
Michael Bublé.  Hope that is an acceptable answer haha!  I'm not ashamed to say I listen to his Christmas all through the year, cannot get enough of it!  Also Celtic Thunder does some absolutely beautiful Christmas songs, aaaaaaand I also listen to them quite a lot!!

7. Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
I like to watch Carols by Candlelight!  As far as I can remember it's always been broadcasted across Australia and I always watch it, seeing as I live in a different state to where it is being held.
8. What tops your tree?
This depends!  We either have an angel or a star, but the little tree I put up in my room has a star :)
9. As a kid what was the one (crazy, wild, extravagant) gift you always asked for but never received?
When I was little I always wanted a horse...  I was going through that phase where all my friends wanted a horse as well haaha but more recently I've been asking for a skateboard.  Been on one a few times and it hasn't ended well haha lets just say I'm best friends with a concrete column!
10. What's the best part about Christmas for you?
Spending time with my family :)  I love my family end of story.  I don't want to offend but I feel people get so greedy when it's Christmas, and it's all about presents and how much stuff they got.  Whereas I don't care if I get gifts for Christmas, spending time with my family is all I ask for.

If anyone wants to do this tag, DO IT!!  You can answer the questions in a comment if you want!

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 6: 619 Paper Cones

Hey hey hey!!

Today I went into uni to help Alannah make a bunch of paper cones for an exhibition for the graduating interior designers.  I love what the design team came up with, it's simple but effective and will really look effective when it is all completed!  Brown paper and gold is the colour theme I believe and they are in the process of making thousands of paper comes which they will then pop into some chicken wire and then place this around and near where they have pinned up their work!

Emerge is also the name of their exhibition so having the cone formation 'emerge' from different places will look super effective!  This is one which is in the central staircase of our uni building is nearly completed.  It reminds me a lot of coral from the sea...

For about four hours we sat and cut our way through fifteen metres of brown paper, cut up lots of sticky tape and folded up 619 paper cones.  It was actually quite therapeutic, except when I nearly sliced my leg with the stanley knife!!  But apart from that it was an afternoon well spent!  We listened to the songs in a playlist of mine on spotify and sadly I didn't break out in song :(  we would have made 620 cones but I failed miserably at making one and there was no way to save it haha!

You could make some pretty artistic Christmas decorations from these cones.  Alannah showed me a photo of a Christmas Tree which was made out of cones, looked stunning!

I can't wait to see the final product!  It's about a week til the exhibition and I honestly can't wait for when my time comes to graduate and my work is pinned up for everyone to see :)

Also we had some sunshine today!  I regretted wearing jeans and converse haha

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

Blogmas Day 5: Weather Update and Christmas Jumpers

Ello ello ello!

When you think of Australia and Summer what comes to mind?  Sunshine?  Heat?  Normally I would agree with you.  However, my summer has been far from sunny.  Rain, clouds, rain, wind did I mention rain?  Oh yeah we have been rained on something crazy!  Well where I live, it's been raining quite a lot....  I love the rain don't get me wrong but from what I can remember this is shaping up to be the coldest December!

So with all this cold weather, I haven't exactly been able to crack out the summer wardrobe.  And I felt, seeing as this is probably the closest I'll ever get to it snowing at Christmas time in Australia I might as well feast my eyes on those gorgeous Christmas jumpers!  I've been internet window shopping on ASOS and these are some of my favourites!

                                               Jumper 1                                                                           Jumper 2

                                             Jumper 3                                                                           Jumper 4

                                          Jumper Dress 5                                                                       Jumper 6

                                          Jumper 7                                                                                 Jumper 8

I would be perfectly happy to wear any of these!  Had to include the Harry Potter one I found a few days ago!  Am considering buying it, everyone loves a Christmas/Harry Potter jumper :D

Also looking at the jumpers for the lads.  I would wear the heck out of a lot of them!!  I find that I actually love the prints which are on the tee for guys these days.  I don't know, the fabric feels nicer and they are comfortable to wear!!

I honestly get super jealous when I see blog posts and vlogs with people wearing Christmas Jumpers!  I think this just means I need to have a Christmas in England or some place where it isn't summer!!  I also don't think they're ugly!  What do you think?  Do you wear Christmas jumpers?

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 4: Cool Hair Colours

Hey there :)

For a long time now I have really been loving pastel and fun bright colour trend for hair.  I'm not sure whether I'd ever do it myself, but knowing me I'll be at my hairdressers and say "hey lets pop a bit of purple in today!"  So I thought I would share with you some pics which excite me loads!

All images are from Pinterest and can be viewed within this board!

I sometimes think you have to have a certain personality to pull off having colours like these in your hair and to be honest not sure whether I have it but maybe I do...?  The most adventurous I've been with my hair was for my birthday this year...  I actually loved it!  I had my hair coloured about a week before my birthday and ah LOVE!  I haven't dyed my hair since, just letting it grow out for the time being :)

What colour do you think would suit me?  Be awesome to have your thoughts!!

This photo brings back memories!  Went to a Celtic Thunder concert and met Keith Harkin and Neil Byrne!!!!!  I did a post about it as well, you can check it out here if you want :)

I haven't been up to much today, sat around the house in my onsie really while it poured with rain really.  Haven't been feeling too well today either which isn't good because I can't afford to get sick! :(

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

Blogmas Day 3: Chocolate Crackle Slice

Hey there :)

So if you're like me you love chocolate (especially dark chocolate) and when you're flicking through a magazine at your best friends place and come across a recipe which includes dark chocolate you take a photo and save it for another day.  Now I have no idea what magazine I got this from and can't for the life of me find it anywhere on the interwebs and I can't find the photo I took of the recipe :(

Also need to put it out there that this is not in anyway healthy, so if you came here hoping to see a healthy recipe, sorry!  I love me some chocolate, but boy oh boy, you eat this in small pieces!

  • 200g block of dark cooking chocolate
  • 125g unsalted butter (chopped)
  • 2tblsps honey
  • 4 1/2 cups of Coco Pops
  • 200g glace cherries (chopped)

  1. Grease a lamington pan.  Line the base and sides with baking paper and extent the paper so it is 2cm above the edges.
  2. Break up the dark chocolate and gently melt in the microwave on a medium power until smooth.
  3. Stir in the Coco Pops and cherries.
  4. Once mixed together, press into your prepared pan and smooth over the top.
  5. Refrigerate for about an hour or until it is firm to touch.
  6. Cut into squares or cut as you want to eat it!
  7. ENJOY!

If you can handle having a lot of chocolate the original recipe did also say to melt some dark chocolate and dribble that over the top but we thought it was already too chocolately!  But if you do try with the milk chocolate on top please let me know how it turns out!  As an alternative you could also use Rice Bubbles instead of Coco Pops if you don't want there to be too much chocolate!

I think for Christmas this would be a yummy little treat!  If you're in Australia, it will melt haha but still perfectly edible!

If you try this out, let me know how it turns out!

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 2: Bowling and Sleeping

Hey there!

I need my sleep.  I stayed up talking with Alannah til about 1am this morning and didn't fall asleep til around 2am...  Less than 5 hours of sleep later and you have a very confused, grumpy, clumsy and sleepy Emma to deal with!  While I'm at uni and running on little hours of sleep I never notice really how tired I am but now I'm on holidays, with essentially no structure to my days and no deadlines to meet I am definitely more aware of how tired I am!

We had to walk across town to collect a few things before going to uni and I just wanted to lie down and sleep.  It was a good little workout though.  Walking to me doesn't really seem like exercise and we kept up a good pace because I thought we were running late... Turns out we were ahead of time so stopped off at a cafe right next to our uni to get a warm drink :)

I have only been getting food and drink from the Blue Cafe Bar for about a year now and really love the atmosphere and also interior of the place.  Also good company makes everything better too!!

For the next few hours I was at uni helping the interior girls who are graduating.  Moved a bunch of tables and chairs, pinned up panels of work, tried to figure out why the free wifi wouldn't work on my phone (hello wrong password), chilled in/on a beanbag, hobbled around with blisters from wearing thongs (flip flops/sandals), tried to not fall asleep in front of everyone, span around on the computer chair in the lab and also rode in the elevator at uni for the first time..  Alannah and myself were taking down a drawing from the 3rd floor and no hope was I going to be able to walk down a flight of stairs, hello accident waiting to happen!  Did I also mention that I was trying to not fall asleep for this entire time?

Snazzy little panorama of the ground floor studio of my uni :)

We also went bowling in the evening!  I hadn't been bowling since my 17th birthday so my technique was rusty.  Also didn't want to show everyone else up, that's why I didn't win.  Yep I'll go with that haha !!  We also dabbled in some of the arcade games.  Alannah and I played a very intense game of air hockey.  7-4 Alannah won.  We're still best friends don't worry.  Was the funniest and dangerous game!  Friendship could have been broken and also the little puck went flying a few times.  Like I said intense.

Lack of sleep is also why this post is essentially day late, had a verrrrrrrry early night last night!  Next post will be up soon, hope you like chocolate!

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x

Blogmas Day 1: Hello December!

December is actually here.  Not sure how I feel about this to be honest...

I've officially finished uni for 2014 passed everything!!! WOOOO YEAH!  I was absolutely freaking out when I went into uni with Alannah to get our grades for our last assignment, honestly felt like I was going to be sick.  Also very stupidly I had said to Alannah if I passed history I would eat a chilli.  And I dislike hot food with a passion, so smart move Emma!  Either way, ate 80% of a chilli last night.  Uneventful.  Was the most boring event.  No crying or sweating or dying or complaining from me.  Alannah was disappointed :P !!

I've had a very lazy day today and I blame the weather!  It's summer (FINALLY) and I live in Australia and majority of the days leading up to today have been brilliant!  Sunshine and warm weather, it's been amazing!  However today, no sunshine was to be had.  Insert very sad face.  Woke up to a massive roll of thunder!  Scared the crap out of me!!  Alannah and myself were going go to go out and get a coffee but literally started pouring with rain just as we had finished getting ready.  I love the rain don't get me wrong but what a way to bring in December!

After we had something for tea and when the weather cleared up slightly (sky was still producing 50 shades of grey) we went for a walk along the Tamar River and being healthy people decided to get some ice cream from the Levee Food Co.  Alannah got caramel and macadamia while I was adventurous and opted for chocolate.  Was delicious!  We only asked for one scoop but I wish I asked for half a scoop, the serving was very generous!

Probably looked a little weird.. I was wearing sports tights and we went a bought some ice cream..  I reckon it was about a 2.5km walk there and back and we didn't dawdle so good little work out for us!  Alannah had never been down to the Seaport before so was nice to show her around while she is still down here!

Has been quite an uneventful day to be honest but really good to spend it with Alannah :)

Hope you are having a beautiful day wherever you are! :)

Until next time, keep smiling :) xx

PS!! Come and say hello!!! :) x
