A Peek In My Little Makeup Bag

I'm not the biggest makeup wearer in the world.  I like to wear the facially naked look quite often but I do love makeup.  Love watching tutorials on YouTube, although if someone would ask me to do winged eyeliner I would probably laugh and run away!

But I do wear makeup from time to time, not a full face of makeup but I wear what I feel comfortable wearing!  So here I present you with everything that is in my little makeup bag!  And I mean everything hahaha

So this is my little makeup bag!  I bought it a year or so ago as the other bag I'd been using, although pretty, kept un-clipping and it was getting a tad annoying opening my handbag to find all my makeup products scattered throughout!  I saw the print initially, and fell in love!  It's by Nicky James and it's perfect for what I need to put in there!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream:  This is a good old faithful of mine!  Before using this I was only using powders and after looking around The Body Shop, I saw this and really wanted to give it a try.  It gives me a light coverage which I find great as I like having a light face of makeup.  You can still see any spots or the like underneath but this can always be helped by applying more of the product, using some concealer or powder!

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder 003 Peach Glow:  When I got this it was a toss up between the translucent one or one which gave some coverage.  And I'm really glad I went with one which provided a little bit of coverage!  It doesn't go funky and look obvious that I have powder on when I'm wearing the BB Cream and provides subtle coverage when I just want a little powder on and nothing else!  And yes, I have hit pan to the max!  Never fear, I have two more!

Youngblood Small Kabuki Brush:  I bought this quite some time ago.  The place where I get my eyebrows done, they stock Youngblood products and along with some beauty products I picked this brush and I love it!  I use this to apply powder and I just love what it does!  I've tried other brushes but this one is my absolute top pick for powder!

Benefit the POREfessional:  I bought this last year when I was coming back from Melbourne and I use it on and off.  When I do use it, my pores are minimised, whatever I put on my face afterwards applies like a dream and also stays there!  Which is great for me as my face can get a tad oily and makeup doesn't like to stay!

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15 Fair Clair:  I have gone through so many concealers trying to find one which just works for me and this is it!  Granted, first time I bought this concealer, I got it a shade too darkBut either way, correct shade or not, I love this product!  Covers up any spots or bits I want covered and blends perfectly into my skin!  Some days at uni, I would just wear this and powder and I was good to go!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in shade 101 Ivory:  If it wasn't for I don't know how many YouTubers and bloggers raving about this, I probably wouldn't have bought this as soon as when I did.  I use this under my eyes and anywhere I want to brighten and it does the trick!  I've re-purchased this a few times and it's one of those products which I would happily recommend!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara:  This was another item which I bought as I'd heard and read countless reviews on it!  And I wasn't disappointed!  I've tried the waterproof version as well, accidentally bought that one first without realising, and had no problems with it other than it was a bugger of a thing to remove!  This mascara makes my eyelashes look lovely and long and I've had no problems with it!

Benefit Gimme Brow in 05 Deep:  I bought this while I was on my way back from Melbourne and as soon as I saw there was a Benefit stand in the store I literally made a b-line for the entrance and went in search of Gimme Brow!  I had wanted to try this for so long and was so glad to get my hands on it!  My brows are quite full as they are and I don't wear a great deal of makeup and I can just put this through my brows and it just gives them that little extra oomph and hello incredible brows!!  I've gotten so many compliments on my brows and it's thanks to my genes and this product hahahah

Revlon lipstick, 423 Pink Velvet:  I wore this to my graduation exhibition (which you can read about here) and I hadn't reall worn it all that much previously as when I go to uni or leave the house lipstick isn't at the top of what I put on my face!  It's a gorgeous, fun shade which is like a coral pink mixed with a bright but not too bright pink and I'll definitely be wearing this more in the summer months!

Revlon lipstick, 245 Smoky Rose:  If I would wear anything on my lips at uni or if I had to look nice and presentable, it would be this!  Although not to music rehearsals as I would be told that I was ruining the integrity of my clarinet reeds if I wore lipstick, so no lipstick or anything like that to music rehearsals!  It's a really nice nude and is great because it doesn't need a lip liner beforehand!

Revlon ColorBurst Lip Gloss, 014 Rosepearl:  Now, can't say I've worn this all that much in the recent past.  Lip gloss is great, but lip gloss + wind + hair isn't a good combination haha!  Nevertheless, gorgeous product and I might start wearing it more with the warmer months here!

Manicare eyebrow brush:  Little bit battered but still does the job!  Mum was the one who got this for me come to think of it and it has served me well!  Does a good job of putting my brows into shape and some mornings, this is all I'll need to  have them looking nice and presentable!  I'm quite lucky where I have quite full brows as it is and don't need to do that much to them!

Nail file:  Do love this specific type of nail file, it just works with my nails!  Simple but effective, and doesn't take up too much space which is great!

Random bits and bobs:  And then we have random bits and bobs that make their way to the bottom of bags.  I had a good chuckle when I saw what was left!  Hair ties, bobby clips and some bandaids which are standard.  But then a clarinet reed, these are like so great for your makeup routine!  I love the Buffet no. 3 ones, really good.  Also a little sachet thing of Vegemite.  Again, such a great addition to your beauty collection, a really multi-purpose product!

I think it's time I took a few of the odd items out of my makeup bag!

Look at me, going out of the good old comfort zone and writing about something beauty related....  Let me know what you think of this, or if there is something else you'd like to see me write about!

Also none of this was sponsored!  All opinions are my own as well like usual!
Until next time, keep smiling :)   Em xx

Interior Design Graduating Exhibition - I DID IT!!!

So I didn't receive that dreaded email from my tutors saying they'd found something horrifically wrong so that means.....

I was getting my hair done last Tuesday and just as my hairdresser walked over I got an email saying out grades were up for an assignment..  Perfect timing!  I love my hairdresser, she gave me some time to check out the results and then we carried on with our appointment!  And so I knew I had passed my studio unit and although the mark I received was really good, I started to worry about my other unit.  And was dreading that on the day of our exhibition, I'd get the dreaded email.

But it never happened.  I did get an email saying results were up for the other assignment and again was perfect timing.  Got to love perfect timing.  Mum was leaving for work and she was putting her shoes on and I jumped up from the table mumbling something about results and mum goes worried that something bad was going to happen and dad was doing something else, can't really remember now!

But oh my goodness.  I saw my result, said what I got and didn't really believe what I was seeing.  It was higher than the two other grades I'd received for that unit and then I had mum and dad saying "you've done it!" ....  I hadn't failed, I'd passed everything with pretty good marks and I would be graduating.

I didn't sink in, I don't whether it still has sunk it that I'll be graduating if I'm honest.

On Wednesday night, we had out Interior Design Graduating Exhibition and I had previously been to one for my best friend Alannah when she graduated so was excited that I was going to one where my work and the work of my classmates would be celebrated!

We'd all pitched in to make food, get drinks and decoration and spent a good part of Wednesday pinning our work up and getting the spaces ready for the exhibition.  I baked some cookies and also failed at a hedgehog slice but we whipped up another chocolate and coconut slice so it all worked out!  To save money, we picked flowers instead of going to a florist and I brought a bucket load of flowers from the garden!  They smelt incredible!

We hadn't really discussed the dress code for the exhibition but really I think we could have nearly worn whatever we felt was appropriate!  Many years ago, I bought a dress from Sportsgirl and I was thinking, why not, I'm going to wear this dress!  It's gorgeous and I regret not ever wearing it before hahah

I paired it with some flats that I have also owned for years, good old faithful black flats, and also a leather (fake leather) jacket from Forever New.  I loved what I wore and even tanned for the exhibition!  Big step for me hahaha I did make the mistake of wearing sports tights in the morning and they left annoying marks on my legs so I wore some skin tone stockings to cover it up!

Makeup wasn't really that exciting hahah, kept it pretty simple!  Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream from The Body Shop in shade 1, covered up any spots with Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in 15 Fair Clair, brightened my under eyes with the Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer in shade 101 Ivory, powered with Rimmel Stay Matte 003 Peach Glow, lashes got some Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara, eyebrows were reunited with Benefit Gimme Brow and on my lips was a Revlon lipstick, 423 Pink Velvet.  Hair was also super simple, because simple is my game!  Freshened up my locks with some dry shampoo from Batiste and it was the Cherry one and then twisted back some front bits and that's really it!  Just a look which I feel extremely comfortable in!

It was such a nice night and my parents were able to come and see the school building where I'd spend so much time!  I got to show them around the majority of the school and also showed them all the work that my classmates had completed, and also the work that the architecture students and I think they really enjoyed it!  They'd never been in the building as the School of Architecture so it was nice for them so see the building, I do love the place, it is pretty incredible!

There were a few awards that were given out and I was lucky enough to receive an award, something which I didn't expect!  I got an award for Best Progress within the Interior Design Program 2016, for significant growth as an Interior Designer since starting the Bachelor of Environmental Design (Interior Design)!!  Kirsty and Jackie, my tutors said I was extremely deserving of this award and that I had absolutely pushed myself so hard and the assignments which I had been producing were something to be very proud of!  Dad gasped when my name was called out and when I looked over at them, they both looked like they had tears in their eyes and yeah, surreal moment!

I had really hit my design strive, my design maturity this year and I am really, really proud and chuffed with myself!

My hotel was called The Espy Hotel and looked at exposing and reveal the original features and characters of each of the site.  There were so many features of all the sites which were either hidden from view or just not celebrated and my aim was to reveal these and create interior insertions which respected the original buildings.

This semester was quite a challenge.  Each semester, it gets harder and kicks up a notch but I'm glad to say that I got through it all!  Hard work definitely pays off!

I've also made some incredible friends over the past two years.  I've worked with so many people over my time at university and my classmates this year have just been an amazing bunch!  Design world look out!  Class of 2016 is coming!

Until next time, keep smiling :)   Em xx

3 Days In New South Wales

In August I went to Sydney for the first time.  And I loved it!  This is going to be more like a visual photo diary, rather than a wordy one!  Hope you like it!!

I had never been to Sydney before (shock horror!) so I was a little bit excited!  The girls I'm friends with from music, we also decided to coordinate a little bit of our outfits...  You'll see what I mean a little later!

We left for Sydney on Friday morning and I was at the airport way before anyone else but it was nice to be able to sit down, relax, have some banana bread and do a little bit of people watching!  I'm never normally at the airport, as I don't travel (sad face) but I just love the atmosphere of an airport.  It's just a bustle of activity, and you get to see so many characters!

So Sydney.  Why have I never visited you before.  I personally loved it!

I've always wanted to see Sydney for myself rather than through photos and it was so worth the wait.  Seeing the Harbour Bridge and Opera House was just incredible, they're two Australian landmarks, which I've seen and heard of all my life, they've been spoken about on numerous occasions at university and actually seeing them in person, ah was amazing.  I didn't realise how large they were though, like I knew they were going to be huge but dayuuuum pictures and videos do not do them justice!

I'm also really good at having my photo taken in front of landmarks.  #model

And now the Noot Noot Squad.  These are the girls who make music rehearsals amazing.  And we all just somehow ended up wearing the same top to Sydney.  What are the odds?!?

Did we get some funny looks?  Yeah.  Were those people jealous of out insane style?  Yeah.

Circular Quay was so incredibly busy.  We were also very hungry.  Food was also very expensive.  I had a bit of a shock when I payed for a chicken salad wrap...  Was tasty but still a bit expensive!

One cramped ferry trip later and we were in Manly and I fell in love.  I'm going to say vibe so get ready for that.  The vibe of Manly.  I loved it.  The people were so friendly, the beach was beautiful.  Only downside was the seagulls.  They were next level violent and I had to guard my ice cream!  Also the ice cream I had.  One word - YUM!

It wasn't even perfect beach weather but it was so pretty.  So incredibly pretty.  I want to visit more beaches now, and I'm not usually one who would want to go and hang out by the seaside!

There was an ice cream place called Royal Copenhagen Ice Cream Cone Co. and omg if you're in Manly or there is one of these ice cream shops wherever you are, you need to go in and grab some ice cream!  I got a chocolate scoop and coffee scoop and far out, easily one of the best, and I mean best ice creams that I've ever had.  Was delicious!  But remember to guard your food because those seagulls are nifty and very nearly took my ice cream on a few occasions!

Now I have a bone to pick with Blue Mountains.  They weren't blue.  Let down.  That false advertising but I'll let it slide because they were just stunning.  It was freezing when we got there and I am so glad I brought my puffy jacket because I think I would have frozen!  I wish we could have stayed for longer, we only got maybe half an hour from memory and it just wasn't enough time!!!

I personally loved Sydney.  I didn't take half as many photos that I wanted too and there were so many stores where I wish I had taken extra time to look through and buy a few things.  I really want to go back to Sydney and explore more.  I was lucky enough to go to major parts of New South Wales but I would just love to go to the little places, places off the map, places just which aren't the classic tourist spots.

So Sydney, New South Wales, Australia expect a visit from me soon!

Until next time, keep smiling :)   Em xx
