A Little Look At The Music I Loved In 2017

I use Spotify usually on the daily.  I love music - Spotify has the music.  You have a very happy Emma!

I have spent the majority of my live having music as a huge and dominant part of it, playing the clarinet and other instruments since primary school, jumping around on pillows and pretending they were surfboards while listening to The Beach Boys when I was small, to now dancing around my room maybe with a hairbrush as a microphone (you'll never know if this is true or not) now as a young adult, music is pretty important to me.

Music gets you through a lot of what life can throw at you, the good and the bad.  Feeling festive?  Be merry with some carols!  Received the best news?  Jump around to a boppy tune!  Feeling down and wallowing in self pity and being dramatic?  Get a good ballad and lip sync or belt out those lyrics.  Music can get you though all those times.

I remember when I was studying at university and how stressed I'd be and I would go and find a playlist on Spotify or something I had on album and press play and a bit of that assignment stress would melt away.  Music is great like that!

If someone were to ask me what my favourite genre of music was, I would honestly struggle.  I don't listen to one specific genre and like a bit of everything.  I say a bit of everything but there are certain operatic pieces which I physically can't listen to and still get the shakes thinking of a specific piece!

Near the end of 2017, Spotify gave their users an insight into what they had listened to in the year that was, it was Your 2017 Wrapped and I remembered seeing mine back in 2014 and was more than keen to see what my 2017 was like!

I have been listening to Ed Sheeran, Little Mix and Katy Perry for a good while now and they are some of my favourite artists but we have to talk about Niall Horan and Peking Duk quickly.

Niall was my favourite from One Direction and I was so keen to hear his solo album and it did not disappiont!  I was driving back from a fair with mum and we were listening to Flicker and she was all praise, so you know you have a winner there!

And Peking Duk.  Ah these guys.  They create cracker of a tune after cracker of a tune and I am still a tad salty that I didn't get a tickets to the Falls Festival because they brought Tasmania into the New Year and that would have just been EPIC!  They featured twice in my Top Songs on Spotify and Stranger was also won Song Of The Year at the ARIAS last year and I was so happy about this!

Now Ed Sheeran is a legend.  I stopped everything when his newest album came out and it was at the time one of the first albums where I thoroughly enjoyed every song.  Sadly I am not going to any of his concerts when he comes to Australia this year but I got to see him a few years ago and I can listen to his album from home without getting a sore butt from the stadium seats!

Little Mix and Katy Perry!  Absolute babes and many hours were spent dancing and exercising I might add to their albums!  Power is such a tune and oh how I wish I had the same vocals as Perrie Edwards...!

Something I mentioned in my previous post of some goals I have for 2018 was to discover new music.  I am 100% that person who can listen to a song or artists over and over and over and over again and not get sick of it.  Now I am no way sick of any of these artists but there is no harm in discovering new artists.

So if you have any favourites yourself or any new suggestions for me to give a listen to, let me know in the comments because you know I will go straight out and see what they have!!

Are there any goals that you have for 2018?

Until next time, keep smiling :)  Em xx

PS!  Come and say hello!!! :) x

  1. 2017 was the year I fell in love with Little Mix! Since I was so late to the game, I had heaps of music to catch up on and I was so happy! They're such talented and gorgeous girls!
